This conversation is part of a DPS Peer sharing session: How to get work at a commerical contemporary art gallery – sharing tips, experiences and strategies, recorded in late November 2022.
Working with commerical gallery is usually always paid work, and therefore a useful option for students wanting to make sure their placements are paid. DPS student Willow Rowlands is currently working with international commerical gallery David Zwirner for 6 months. She shares how she got this work, gives tips and advice. She also talks about her experience at a high end art gallery, tells students what to expect, and what she has learned.
Jessica Jennebach Varela talks about her experience of her DPS year in 2021-22. She shares conclusions she has come to about her DPS year and advice for first or second years thinking of doing a DPS year.
